Here’s the latest Aria Nendoroid! Ai didn’t really get too much physical screentime in the anime, but at least we got to hear her conversations with Akari at the end of each episode. I think this one turned out alright. Some parts of her design ended up being annoying when it came to Nendoroidizing it (if that makes any sense). I like to be picky about my own work so I’m sure I’ll find some random minor mistake later on. ^_^ Hit the jump for a little bonus.

It’s Ai in an Aria Company uniform! Take note however that it’s not entirely what she looks like by the end of the anime series. This one is based off of an image of her wearing the uniform when she was still little. I’ll probably make a different version of her later on for her older form, but because they’re Nendoroids, she’ll probably look very similar. I used the Aika/Alice uniform base to make the Aria Company one. It really shortens the amount of time that I have to spend.

Ai-chan has a few additional outfits that she wore in the series that I want to draw sometime later. Perhaps after I’ve worked on some other characters?

Now I wonder what the next one should be. There are still quite a few characters left.

You didn’t think I forgot about these Aria Nendoroids, did you? Here’s Alice Carroll! She doesn’t have as many poses or hairstyles as Aika, unfortunately. Overall though, I definitely think she turned out better than Akari and Alicia, back when I was experimenting with the dimensions and styles. It also helps that I used Aika as the blueprint, which I thought was pretty good at the time.

Woot! It’s here! After such a long delay, I’m finally done with this. If you look closely, you’ll notice that I’ve made some tweaks to it to get it to look more like a Nendoroid. Oddly enough, even with the help of a few references, my final product still looks largely the same as the previous Nendoroid drawings. Fail?

And here’s her older hairstyle in the series. I didn’t pair the third face with this hairstyle since I don’t recall her ever having this expression back in the first season. Which hairstyle do you prefer? Personally, I liked it when she changed it halfway through the second season.

Up next is either one of three things. It might be an Aria Nendoroid. It could also be a Nendoroid from a different series (a not so helpful hint: tsundere/magic). Or it could be something completely different that’s related to Danny Choo. ;D Wonder which one I’ll do. But anyways, enjoy this one for now!

Things were going smoothly for this one, until I got to her hair. So instead of getting this image about four or five days ago, you get to have it now. =/ It didn’t help that I had homework and test preparations to do at the same time.

Time for some more of my post-Photochop rants. I’ll keep this as simple as I can. I am not very satisfied with this particular one, mostly due to the struggles I had. An example would be her hair; I took forever trying to figure out how to taper the hair since her head was huge. Nendoroid proportions throw me off sometimes. x.x And I don’t feel like my solutions were really that good.

The next Aria Nendoroid will either be Aika or Alice. I think I will make more changes to the way I draw the next Nendoroid. That means tweaks to the proportions and possibly thinner lines. Stay tuned!

Seeing these made me interested in actually making one myself. Due to my infinite sux on Photoshop, it took me forever. It didn’t help that I have a perfectionist side to me that rears its ugly head whenever I try to draw something. And in the end it’s not even perfect. xD

I was considering some shading, but in the end I decided not to (lazy bum).

Alright Good Smile Company, go make this drawing a reality! If the six main undines were made, I’d buy them all!

I’ll get around to making the rest of the characters in Aria, so stay tuned! As a warning though, I’m very slow at this… =/ At least I’m making use of my tablet a bit…

Come on, you must have thought of this. Picture this scenario. You go and buy the Asakura figma and it comes with Taniguchi’s head. You don’t have a Kyon or a Koizumi figma. So what can you do? What’s the most logical thing to do in this situation? The first picture is if you have a Haruhi figma. The second is if Asakura is the only figma you have.

And now I can safely say, “It’s a trap!”

The closest thing to the first picture in real life should be 5 minutes into the following video (but don’t say I didn’t warn you first):

Not many of you may know, but I recently (in the past couple of weeks) bought a drawing tablet. I haven’t really used it too much, due to my massive amounts of laziness. Today I decided to practice a bit, since I’ve never really used a tablet.

Behold! It’s Shana, or that’s what I was aiming for. It’s so “blah” (for lack of a better word) that I’m not sure what to say. I tend to use small strokes, which really contributes to the messiness. On top of that, I didn’t really clean it. All this is just a long way of saying that, being a sketch, it’s incomplete.

I probably won’t finish this since it was merely for a bit of practice (heck, I just deleted the PSD file ><). After using the tablet to draw in Photoshop, I’ve raised a few questions that perhaps a seasoned veteran can answer.

• What program do you use to draw?
• What’s the typical canvas size that you use to draw?
• What’s the best way to draw the final lineart? Do you draw them by hand or do you use the pen tool?
• If you draw the final lineart by hand, what’s the typical brush size that you work with?

Yes, some of these questions really only apply to those who draw everything on the computer. I guess the situation’s a bit different if you sketch on paper and then scan.

Hopefully I can improve soon. I have some projects in mind that I want to attempt, but they all hinge on my drawing ability, and given that I don’t draw too often… not good. ><;
